At the Institute a virtual test rig was created in cooperation with the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) and other Partners (within a EU-Project). These test rig is based on a virtual reality surrounding with 3d user-interfaces. The system is simple and used intuitive. The designer can easily modify the geometry.

The virtual test rig was developed for the design of hydraulic turbines. In different projects Kaplan- and Francisrunners as well as draft tubes were designed successfully.
